Another 56 average speed measuring systems operate on the roads of national importanceAnother 56 average speed measuring systems (ASMS) operate on the roads of national importance. Currently, a total of 162 average speed meters operates on the roads of national importance in 81 sections, and 70 instantaneous speed meters, that are arranged at dangerous points. These meters record speed violations, payment of road fee, the validity of roadworthiness test and of motor third party liability insurance. It is planned that next year another 50 ASMSs (100 devices) will be installed on the roads of national importance.

In Lithuania, slag was used for road construction for the first timeA unique section of road in Jurbarkas district, in the construction of which slag generated after the conversion of non-hazardous waste into energy was used, was completed. It is the first project of this kind in Lithuania. Its purpose is to analyse the road in detail and determine the impact of slag on road operation. After completion of research and after evaluating the results achieved, it will be possible to decide on the further use of slag on Lithuanian roads.

In creating a safer traffic environment, the Battle of Minds “Safe Students 2021” is organisedThis year, for the first time the State Enterprise Lithuanian Road Administration (hereinafter – the Road Administration) organises for Lithuanian schools the remote Battle of Minds on the topic of traffic safety ‘Safe Students 2021’. The schools delegated by the Education Units of the municipal administrations – one from each municipality – were invited to take part in the Battle of Minds. The representatives of 51 schools have registered for the Battle of Minds “Safe Students 2021”.

Attention to the gravel roads of national importanceThis year, the State Enterprise Lithuanian Road Administration (hereinafter – the Road Administration) has entered into contracts worth approximately 9 million euros for the repair of almost 100 km of the worst country‘s roads of national significance with a gravel surface. The work has begun this year and will be continued next year. The repair of the roads of national significance with a gravel surface from the ground up has begun in order to improve their condition.
