Validity of Annual E-Vignettes May Be Suspended During Lockdown

2020 11 26

Road users who are not going to use toll roads during the lockdown, may suspend the validity of their annual electronic vignettes (later – e-vignettes). The decision has been taken by the resolution of the Emergency Operations Centre at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. A similar decision was taken in spring when the lockdown was introduced for the first time in the country.

During the mentioned period 405 road users suspended the validity of their e-vignettes. They can do it again during the lockdown that was introduced on 7 November.

The validity period of an annual e-vignette will be suspended for the period of lockdown from the date of receipt of the road user‘s application and the vehicle‘s registration certificate at the SE Lithuanian Road Administration (later – the Road Administration). At the end of the lockdown, the validity period of the annual e-vignette will be automatically extended by the duration of the cancelled validity and an additional period of  30 calendar days.

To suspend the validity, road users shall submit an application to the Road Administration by e-mail . The application shall contain the vehicle‘s plate number, e-vignette‘s number and a copy of the vehicle‘s registration certificate.

Road users will have an opportunity to revoke the suspension of their e-vignette‘s validity before the end of the lockdown on the territory of Lithuania. In that case they will have to submit an application and a copy of the vehicle‘s registration certificate by e-mail .
Road users will be informed about the decision to suspend or to revoke the suspension of the validity of e-vignette (except when the lockdown is over) by e-mail in 5 working days from the receipt of their application.

It shall be pointed out that the provision that before entering the main road section road users shall carry a valid e-vignette remains. A list of toll state main roads has been appproved by the Resolution of the Lithuanian Government.
In order to purchase e-vignette, a mobile device (a computer, a telephone or a tablet) will suffice.

E-vignettes may be purchased in advance and without any administrative fee on the website www.keliumokestis.lt.

The Order on ‘The Annual E-Vignette Validity Time Suspension During the Lockdown in Lithuania’ may be found at the website of the Road Administration: http://www.keliumokestis.lt/.
According to the data of 19 November 2020, the number of valid e-vignettes was 21,400 in Lithuania.
