The Utilization of the Road Maintenance and Development Programme Funds on 19 December 2019

According to the data of 19 December 2019, the Lithuanian Road Administration under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (hereafter referred to “the Road Administration”) has already paid its contractors the sum of 464 million euros for state road administering, construction and maintenance works. Moreover, another 30 million euros are due to be paid. The payments are made by the National Shared Functions Centre.

The Director of the Road Administration Vitalijus Andrejevas has informed that contractors keep submitting invoices and the sum might increase.

It has been the first time in the history of the organization that on 31 December 2019 the Road Administration has signed contracts for 100 per cent of the planned budget in 2020, which facilitates contractors to prepare for works well in advance.

In 2019 the Road Administration saved ca 69 million euros through tendering procedures. The saved funds were used for new tenders and contract signing.

In 2019 the Road Administration was allocated the amount of 381.7 million euros for state roads and 155 million euros for municipalities. To our knowledge, municipalities and other institutions have already used 144 million euros out of the allocated amount.
