The section of Utena road between Molėtai and Utena is being designed

Work of design of the highway from Molėtai to Utena is being started. The contracts signed by the SE Lithuanian Road Administration for the preparation of technical work projects of overhaul of two sections (from the kilometre 64.332 to the kilometre 79.510 and from the kilometre 79.510 to the kilometre 93.726) of the highway A14 Vilnius-Utena and for the supervision of the project implementation have come into effect. The projects must be prepared and submitted within 11 months from the date of entry into force of the contracts. The total value of the two contracts is almost 320 thousand euros. Upon completion of the design, the contract work will be announced.

The aim is to make repairs of the concrete road surface in bad condition and thus ensure safe and comfortable traffic conditions. It is planned that the contract work on this highway from Molėtai to Utena (including in Utena city) could be completed in 2024, and the road section up to Molėtai could be repaired by 2025.

The highway A14 Vilnius–Utena is one of the main transport routes of the country leading from the capital to the neighbouring municipalities. It is perhaps the only road with a cement concrete surface, which is worn, deformed and poses a risk to traffic safety.

Public calls for tenders have also been launched and two public procurement procedures for the preparation of technical work projects of reconstruction of the sections of Utena highway up to Molėtai (from the kilometre 21.5 to the kilometre 39.207 and from the kilometre 39.2047 to the kilometre 64.332) and for the supervision of the project implementation are currently in progress.
