The section of the regional road Molėtai – Pabradė in Molėtai district will be reconstructed
The agreement of reconstruction of the section from 10.985 to 15.405 km of the regional road of national importance No 173 Molėtai – Pabradė has entered into force. The works are performed in accordance with the agreement, the value of which is 9.62 million Euros including VAT. It is envisaged to perform the works within 10 months from the day of entry into force of the agreement, i.e., before the end of January of 2024.
According to Marius Švaikauskas, the Director General of the Road Administration, due to training of Lithuanian military and NATO that takes place at the Pabradė polygon, this road is important in terms of military mobility. Besides, the road is also important for tourism, because the section of the reconstructed road is included in the territory important for protection of Natura 2000 sites (Labanoras Regional Park), it also leads to the object of cultural heritage (complex of church buildings). The implementation of this project would lead to improved traffic safety and more comfortable travels.
The regional road of national importance No 173 Molėtai – Pabradė is in a bad condition: the current width of the road covering does not meet the requirements set for regional roads, the covering of the road is deteriorated and damaged, roadsides are deformed. After the reconstruction, the width of the road in this section will be larger and will meet the requirements set for regional roads.
According to the agreement, new asphalt will be laid down in 4.42 km length section of the road. The section of the road to be reconstructed crosses Inturkė settlement (Molėtai district), therefore pedestrian trails adapted for disabled people will be created in the settlement. Inturkė settlement will have the silent asphalt and concrete covering in order to reduce the effect of noise on the residents, it will have modern lighting, other measures of safe traffic. For the convenience of residents, the bus stops will be reconstructed: pavilions with benches will be built. Besides, in accordance with this agreement, it is envisaged to reconstruct the bridge between Vašuokas and Galuonas lakes.
The aforementioned road is reconstructed in accordance with the order of priority of regional road, the width of covering of which is ≤ 5 m, and which is created in accordance with the methods of evaluation and creation of the order of priority of roads of national importance to be reconstructed and repaired.
