Preparation of the pre-project solutions of the road from Garliava to Prienai begins

The contract for the preparation of pre-project solutions for the reconstruction of the section between the kilometres 11.60 and 31.10 (19.5 km) of the State importance regional road No 130 Kaunas-Prienai-Alytus has entered into force. The designers of the State Enterprise Lithuanian Road Administration must prepare and submit within 8 months the reconstruction pre-project solutions. The value of the concluded contract is almost 223 thousand euros.

Later, technical project will be prepared on the basis of the pre-project solutions. The price of the road reconstruction work will depend on the final detailed technical solutions.

After the technical project will be prepared, calls for tenders for contract work will be issued. Contract work is planned in 2024-2026. The contract work is planned to be completed in two stages. It will begin first on the road section, the design of which will be prepared first. That will become clear after this contract will be implemented.

The reconstruction of the road section between Garliava and Prienai will solve problems related to traffic safety, traffic management and road surface quality.

According to data of 2021, the average annual daily traffic volume in the section between the kilometres 11.60 and 31.10 of the road No 130 Kaunas-Prienai-Alytus is about 10 thousand cars per day (24 hours). It is one of the most intense sections of the regional roads in Lithuania. The reconstruction of this road is one of the priority works of the current Government. Currently, the land expropriation in the public interest is in progress (by 2023).
