2022 04 15

A public procurement (Procurement) has been announced for the pre-design solutions to reconstruct the national road of state significance No. 130 Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus section from 11.60 to 31.10 km.

According to Remigijus Lipkevičius, the head of the Lithuanian Road Administration, the purpose of this procurement is to select the optimal alternative for the reconstruction of the road section and to announce a tender for the preparation of technical design.

The road reconstruction is planned to be implemented in two stages – in the first stage it is planned to take land for public needs (until 2023), what is currently underway, and to carry out road design works (2022–2024). The second stage will focus on contracting works (2024-2026).

The cost of road reconstruction works will depend on the selected reconstruction alternative and its technical solutions after the completion of technical design and public procurement procedure.

Based on 2021 data, the annual average daily traffic on the road No. 130 Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus section from 11.6 to 13.85 km reaches almost 10 thousand vehicles per day. This is one of the most intensive national road sections in Lithuania. Reconstruction of this road has been recognized as one of the main priorities for the current Government.
