Internal auditors of road administrations in foreign countries discuss current perspectives

2022 06 13

Last week, the annual meeting of the internal auditors of the Nordic and Baltic national road administrations was organised by the Lithuanian Road Administration and attended by representatives from Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Latvia and Lithuania. The main theme of this year’s meeting is “Challenges and Issues of Internal Audit 2020-2021”.

During the meeting, participants presented an overview of the internal audit reports of the last two years, discussed the main risks and made observations.

The most common challenges for 2020-2021 were the strengthening of staff roles and responsibilities in the long term, and the need for leadership changes. The increased risk of cyber-attacks and the existing preventive measures and their effectiveness were also discussed.

This year’s annual meeting of the internal auditors of the Nordic and Baltic national road administrations on the COVID 19 pandemic was organised after a two-year break. The meeting was initiated by the Baltic Road Association (BRA).

The main objective of the Baltic Road Association is to seek opportunities for cooperation on joint projects, coordinating the work of technical expert groups, organising joint seminars and international conferences, and cooperating with other international road organisations. Lithuania will hold the presidency of the Association for 4 years from last year until 2025, when it will hand over to Estonia.
