In creating a safer traffic environment, the Battle of Minds “Safe Students 2021” is organised

2021 11 18

This year, for the first time the State Enterprise Lithuanian Road Administration (hereinafter – the Road Administration) organises for Lithuanian schools the remote Battle of Minds on the topic of traffic safety ‘Safe Students 2021’. The schools delegated by the Education Units of the municipal administrations – one from each municipality – were invited to take part in the Battle of Minds. The representatives of 51 schools have registered for the Battle of Minds “Safe Students 2021”.

The participants of the school teams participating in the Battle of Minds will have the opportunity to remember the basic requirements for safe behaviour on the road, that apply to pedestrians, passengers, bicycle and scooter riders, and also to develop the ability to apply theoretical knowledge of traffic safety in real situations.

“It often happens that even the road users, who are very well familiar with the Road Traffic Rules, get confused and make mistakes in real situations. it is therefore essential for all road users, and in particular for young road users, to constantly refresh their traffic safety knowledge and to apply them properly in a real traffic environment. This is the main goal of all educational activities carried out by the Road Administration”, – says Remigijus Lipkevičius, Director of the Road Administration.

The Battle of Minds is organised exclusively for students in grades 7-10. Each team should consist of one representative from each school, that is, there should be 4 members and a team leader (teacher) in one team. This project is aimed at promoting greater involvement of senior students in creating a safer environment and to develop a responsible attitude in participating in the road and street traffic.

The Battle of Minds consists of two stages. The team schools participating in the battle will be attributed by the location of the school to the territories of Aukštaitija, Central Lithuania and Samogitia. During the stage 1, three school teams in each territory, having collected the biggest number of points in each territory, will be selected. These teams will enter stage 2 of the Battle of Minds. During the stage 2, one team in each region – Aukštaitija, Central Lithuania and Samogitia, that has collected the biggest number of points – the winning team – will be selected. They will be awarded special prizes established by the Road Administration.

The winners of the remote Battle of Minds on the topic of traffic safety “Safe Students 2021” will be announced by December 17.
