Drawings to Draw Attention to Traffic Safety Issues

2020 12 10

Six bus stop shelters have been decorated with traffic safety related drawings in various Lithuanian districts. The colours and message of the drawings aims to focus the attention of road users to traffic safety issues and to encourage them to behave responsibly on the streets and roads.

The drawings have been selected from several hundred works that took part in the drawing competition Safe Traffic on the Road in 2020 (later – the competition) held by SE Lithuanian Road Administration (later – the Road Administration) each year.

This year schoolchildren from various educational institutions, non-governmental organizations and  communities were invited to take part in the competition. Lithuania was divided into three territories and two winners were selected in each territorial division. This year, six drawings of schoolchildren from various Lithuanian districts became the winners of the competition. The selected drawings met the set criteria of compliance with the subject, originality of the idea and form, artistic and technical solution, quality of work, practical applicability, creativity and topicality of information.

According to the Director of the Road Administration Remigijus Lipkevičius, bus stop shelters decorated with the winner-drawings in various regions of the country is a wonderful tool of attracting road users‘ attention to the importance of traffic safety, encouraging them to be responsible, to choose safe speed, to fasten seat belts and to behave mindfully on the road.

Like every year, the competition was held in spring, and this year it had 279 participants. The authors with their community members decorated the shelters in autumn, taking all necessary precautions related to the current epidemiological situation.
