Campaign Traffic Safety Stops: Our Safety on the Roads

2021 08 02

The campaign Traffic Safety Stops organized by SE Lithuanian Road Adminstration (later – the Road Administration) starts its journey to the Lithuanian cities and towns. On 2 August– 3 September, 102 traffic safety stops will be opened where traffic safety specialists from the Road Adminstration will consult visitors on traffic safety issues. The focus will be laid on the most vulnerable road users: pedestrians, bicyclists, regular and e-scooter riders. It goes without saying that vehicle drivers and passengers will get advice as well.

“The campaign has been organized for the second time. Direct communication with traffic safety specialists is useful and, based on the experiences from last year, important to people. Our traffic safety specialists will remind every visitor of the Road Traffic Regulations. I invite everybody to take this opportunity to visit a traffic stop. Our safety depends on our mindful behaviour on the road”, says Neringa Makaveckienė, Communications Manager of the International Relations and Communication Division, who took part in the campaign last year.

The campaign aims to attract young road users as well. The Road Administration specialists will help visitors of different age groups not only to find their own safe route, but how to cross the street safely and to wear reflective items properly.

The venues of the events will be in smaller towns and built-up areas, where traffic safety campaigns are rarely held, but the number of road accidents with pedestrians and bicyclists is relatively high. The stations will be located at municipality or local authority headquarters, post offices, shopping centres, etc.

Due to COVID-19 the participants of the campaign are highly recommended to take all necessary precautions and observe regulations issued by the Government of the Lithuanian Republic: to keep safe distance, to avoid pooling, to wear face masks.

Municipalities, local authorities, communities, local enforcement officers will contribute to the activities of the campaign Traffic Safety Stops organized and held by the Road Administration for the second time. In 2020, 62 traffic safety stops were set up and attended by 2,000 road users.

The exact locations of the campaign may found at website of the Road Administration.
