Additional Funds for State Gravel Road Paving

The Lithuanian Road Administration under the Ministry of Transport and Communications (later – the Road Administration) has been allocated 8.9 million euros for asphalt paving of nine state gravel road sections. Based on the currently available funds, 1,470 km of gravel roads will be asphalt paved, i.e. ca 20 km more than it was informed in the beginning of June. The funds have been allocated by the Order of the Minister of Transport and Communications on the allocation of funds of the plan for the increase of the country‘s economic potential and alleviation of the effects of COVID-19.

In June, the Road Administration presented a list of projects to be implemented  in case additional funds were allocated. By his order, the Minister of Transport and Communications has selected concrete projects to be financed from the list provided by the Road Administration.

According to the Road Administration Director Mr Vitalijus Andrejevas, to guarantee smooth implementation of state gravel road paving programme, the works were planned to be performed immediately in case additional funds were allocated. Therefore, contracts for eight out of nine road sections have already been drawn up.

According to the data of 18 June 2020, the Road Administration has already been allocated 27.1 million euros: 9.7 million euros for asphalt road repair, 8.5 million euros for gravel road repair and 8.9 million euros for gravel road asphalt paving, out of 30 million euros assigned for state significance roads (Road Adminstration projects) in the plan for the increase of the country‘s economic potential and alleviation of the effects of COVID-19.
